What is knightly order ranks?

Knightly order ranks are hierarchical levels within a knightly order which reflects the rank and status of a member. The rank structure varies among different knightly orders, but most often includes the following ranks:

  1. Knight: The lowest rank within a knightly order. Knights are typically granted their status by a higher-ranking member of the order. They are expected to serve the order and demonstrate honor, bravery, and skill in battle.

  2. Squire: Squires are aspiring knights who are training to become knights. They are assigned to knights to learn the ways of chivalry, swordsmanship, and warcraft.

  3. Commander: Commanders are high-ranking knights who lead other knights in battle. They are responsible for training, organizing, and directing knights in combat.

  4. Grand Commander: Grand Commander is a high rank within a knightly order. They are responsible for the overall leadership and administration of the order and are typically appointed by the highest authority within the order.

  5. Grand Master: The highest-ranked member of a knightly order. They are responsible for upholding the values, traditions, and standards of the order. They are also responsible for appointing other high-ranking members within the order.

  6. Knights Templar also had some unique rankings like Sergeant, Brother, Prior, Preceptor etc.
